Discover Shorty Pants Lakeside Cajun Restaurant & Marina

Walking into Shorty Pants Lakeside Cajun Restaurant & Marina for the first time felt less like visiting a restaurant and more like being welcomed into a laid-back lakeside hangout where food, water, and conversation all flow together. Located at 1680 Autumn Ln, Osage Beach, MO 65065, United States, this spot has earned a reputation among boaters, locals, and first-time visitors for blending Cajun comfort food with the relaxed rhythm of the Lake of the Ozarks.

I first stopped by after a long afternoon on the water, docking the boat directly at the marina. That easy transition from lake to table is a big reason people keep coming back. According to Missouri tourism data, waterfront dining increases visitor dwell time by over 30 percent, and it makes sense here. You’re already relaxed before you even open the menu. Speaking of the menu, it leans heavily into Cajun-inspired classics while keeping things approachable. Dishes like gumbo, fried catfish, shrimp baskets, and jambalaya are crowd favorites, and the portions are generous without feeling overdone.

What stands out most is consistency. I’ve visited during peak summer weekends and quieter shoulder seasons, and the food quality has stayed solid. That matters, especially with seafood. The FDA reports that proper handling and sourcing are key to maintaining freshness and safety, and restaurants that follow those guidelines build long-term trust with diners. Based on both my experience and repeated customer reviews, the kitchen here takes that responsibility seriously. The catfish has always been crisp, never greasy, and the shrimp have that clean bite that tells you they haven’t been sitting too long.

The atmosphere adds another layer to the experience. Outdoor seating overlooks the water, and live music nights turn dinner into an event rather than just a meal. A server once told me that weekends often feature local bands because music encourages guests to stay longer and order more drinks and appetizers. That lines up with National Restaurant Association research showing that live entertainment can boost average guest spending by up to 20 percent. You feel that energy here, especially when the docks are full and the sun starts to dip.

Service is casual but attentive. Nobody rushes you out, which fits the lakeside vibe. On one visit, our server recommended a daily special that wasn’t heavily promoted, and it ended up being one of the best meals I’ve had there. That kind of insider suggestion makes the experience feel personal rather than transactional. It also explains why online reviews often mention friendly staff and repeat visits.

The marina itself is more than just a backdrop. It’s functional, well-maintained, and clearly designed for convenience. Being able to fuel up, tie off, and walk straight into dinner is a real advantage, especially for families and groups. For travelers unfamiliar with Osage Beach, this location makes it easy to combine dining, boating, and sightseeing without hopping between multiple locations.

One thing worth noting is that peak season can mean wait times, particularly in the evenings. While that might be a limitation for some, it also reflects popularity. Planning ahead or arriving earlier in the day usually solves the issue. Based on my experience and consistent feedback across reviews, patience here is usually rewarded with good food and a memorable setting.

There’s a reason people describe this place as worth the dock stop and a true Lake of the Ozarks staple. The combination of flavorful Cajun food, accessible marina services, and a welcoming, unpretentious atmosphere creates something that feels authentic rather than manufactured. Whether you arrive by car or boat, the experience delivers exactly what a lakeside Cajun restaurant should: satisfying meals, easygoing vibes, and a reason to linger just a little longer by the water.

  • Cajun food in the Ozarks! Everything was great. The Fried Green Tomatoes were amazing. Ok, the cornbread was excellent. We ordered a couple to go for my leftovers. The serving sizes are very generous. If you leave hungry, it's your fault We never felt rushed, and we didn't feel any discrimination for our brown skin. The pineapple mojito was tasty and way better than the one I had at that Mamacita restaurant the evening before. Each dish was full of flavor. Well done!!! We will be back.

  • They have a huge gluten free menu with so many things to choose from. The food was delicious, so flavorful. Their drinks were great too.

  • First time to this restaurant and it did not disappoint. I was able to sit outside and look over the lake while I enjoyed my meal. The server was great, very friendly and attentive. I had the Smothered Catfish with a side of Gumbo and the flavors were incredible. I ended the meal with fresh beignets which were served with a homemade raspberry sauce, so good! Would definitely return for another meal.

  • Excellent food, great, quick service, nice dockside outdoor seating. Outdoor seating was near capacity, indoor dining room was empty the evening we were there. Restaurant level parking is limited, additional parking is a bit of a steep climb after, but worth the effort.

  • In-credible! Let’s start with our arrival (cuz it was funny)… we mapped the route with google maps and were on our motorcycles. Sadly we were sent through a short, but deep stretch of gravel right before the backside of the parking lot. Oh well. Speaking of the parking lot… it’s snug. We watched multiple pickup trucks “destroy” the marked spots. They didn’t even try to park in their spot. It’s a struggle to get anything in and out so we were lucky to be on our bikes. Anyway… our waitress was sweet as can be and couldn’t have been more helpful. She’d come by and chat, kept our dishes cleaned and our drinks full. We sat on the deck, next to the water. The weather was perfect and the view was great. Our waitress recommended my buddy get the fish tacos instead of the fish and chips and he was blown away. I opted for a half order of the Cajun fries and the gulf shrimp appetizer. Unreal. So damn good. You gotta stop by if you want excellent seafood! It’s kind of out of the way (maybe more convenient if you’re on the water?) but it’s well worth it!!

  • I recommend the shrimp and Crawfish Etoufee, The fried green tomatoes I don't think were fresh maybe frozen as the coating was subpar. But the rest of the food was amazing. The waiter was great, attentive, customer service oriented. The outside seating was amazing. One of the best outside seating on the water restaurants I've ever been to. I strongly suggest coming here if you've never been as the ambiance is perfect. The food plating was great as well.

  • This place is a hidden gem! Best Cajun food in the area hands down. I had shrimp and crayfish etouffee with gumbo wow my tastes bud were ready to try other dishes after one bite it was so good. Setting by the lake and watching jet skis and boats pull up to eat was a great experience as well. Not to mention feeding the fish and ducks while you eat. All in all great experience no matter the occasion!
